Methodology & data sources
Qevrulon answers one question: when does a device stop receiving software updates? Here is exactly where the answer comes from.
What "end of support" means here
We track the date after which a device no longer receives security updates from its manufacturer. Many devices stop getting OS feature upgrades earlier; where that date is known separately, we show it too. After the security end date, newly discovered vulnerabilities are no longer fixed.
Where the dates come from
- Manufacturer commitments — official update-policy pages and support documents (for example Samsung's security workscope pages, Google's Pixel support documentation, Fairphone's support commitments). Each device page links to its source.
- The open endoflife.date dataset — a community-maintained, MIT-licensed lifecycle database we build on, verify against and contribute to. It aggregates the official documents above.
Why some devices are missing
Google certifies over 15,000 Android device models, counting every regional variant and small brand. We only publish a device when a documented, sourced support commitment exists for it. A page without a real date would waste your time; we'd rather grow coverage brand by brand as official policies become available.
Status labels
- Supported — the end date is more than 12 months away.
- Ending soon — the end date falls within the next 12 months.
- Updates ended — the end date has passed, or the manufacturer has declared the device end-of-life.
- No date announced — the manufacturer publishes no firm end date. Apple, notably, never announces one in advance; an Apple device is effectively supported until it is dropped from a new OS release.
Accuracy
Dates are refreshed automatically every day from the sources above. Manufacturers sometimes extend support; when that happens, the pages here change with them. If you spot an error, email [email protected] and we'll verify it against the primary source.
