The Samsung Galaxy A72 in detail

Released in March 2021, the Samsung Galaxy A72 received security patches until March 2025: 4 years in total.

Across all brands, the median for phones is 4 years.

Two schedules overlap here. New system versions stop in March 2024, security patches in March 2025. In between, the device stays on its last version but still gets fixes for security holes.

Can I keep using the Samsung Galaxy A72?

Yes, it still works. But every security hole found after March 2025 stays open. For daily use with banking, messaging and passwords, a supported device is the safer choice. As a spare without your main accounts (alarm clock, music player, camera), it's still useful. Do a factory reset before you give it away or recycle it.
