The Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max in detail
How many years of updates does the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max get?
In its PSTI statement, Apple gives September 20, 2024 as the date this model first went on sale in the UK. The brand commits to supporting it for at least 5 years from then, which means until September 20, 2029.
That leaves at least 2 years and 11 months of guaranteed patches.
Going by its past models, Apple kept the middle half of its phones in our database supported for between 5 years and 9 months and 8 years and 6 months. Applied to this model, released in September 2024, that would put the end between 2030 and 2033. This is an estimate from the brand's track record, not an announcement.
Do I need to do anything with my Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max?
Nothing urgent. Support is guaranteed until at least September 20, 2029. Keep automatic updates switched on, because a patch only protects you once it's installed. If an end date is published, the alert above will tell you.
